How the Video Maker works
The Video Maker turns two photos into a short clip that reveals the "after" photo over the "before" photo. Everything happens in your browser: the comparison is animated frame by frame and recorded with your browser's built-in video encoder, so your photos are not uploaded to our servers. The finished video has no sound, which makes it easy to add your own music or voice-over in Instagram, TikTok or any video editor.
Choosing the right settings
Start with the animation style. Slide and Vertical slide move a divider across the frame and work best when both photos were taken from the same spot. Fade and Flash cut are kinder to photos that do not line up exactly, because there is no divider to expose the mismatch. Circle reveal, Magnifier and Hand drag add movement that catches the eye in a busy feed.
Then pick a canvas shape for where the video will be posted: 9:16 for Reels, Stories and TikTok, 4:5 or 1:1 for feed posts, and 16:9 for YouTube, websites and slide decks.
Length and frame rate decide how the clip feels. The default of 8 seconds at 15 FPS is enough for one smooth reveal. Clips of 3 to 5 seconds loop well on social media, while 10 to 15 seconds gives viewers time to study detailed work such as a kitchen remodel. Moving the frame rate toward 30 FPS makes the motion smoother but the file larger.
MP4 or WebM?
Choose MP4 whenever it is offered. It plays on phones, in social apps and in presentation software. WebM files are smaller and work well on websites, but some apps and older devices cannot open them. If MP4 is not listed, your browser cannot record that format; a recent version of Chrome, Edge or Safari usually can.
Who uses before and after videos
Personal trainers post a vertical reveal of a client's twelve-week progress, with the client's permission. Contractors, cleaners and landscapers add a clip of a finished job to their Google Business Profile or Facebook page, where motion gets more attention than a still photo. Salons, car detailers and photo retouchers put a short loop on their booking page so visitors can see the result before they book. Product teams use a 16:9 clip to show a redesign in a release note or a pitch deck.
Free and Pro exports
You can upload photos and try every setting without an account. Downloading needs a free account, which includes one video per day with a watermark. Pro plans remove the daily limit and the watermark, and allow commercial use.
