Make a before and after GIF in three steps
Add your Before and After photographs, preferably the original files rather than screenshots. Choose two images of the same subject and keep a clear reference point in both. A doorway, a desk edge, or the top of a product makes it easier to notice if one image is framed more tightly.
Choose the animation style and canvas ratio, then adjust framing in Crop & zoom. Sliding reveals work best when the photographs line up. If the viewpoint changed, try a fade and inspect the transition for distracting movement. Keep labels short, and place them away from the detail that changes.
Watch a complete preview before exporting. Check the opening frame, the reveal, and the final frame; each should make sense without a written explanation. Sign in when prompted to generate the GIF, wait for processing to finish, then open the downloaded file in a viewer that supports animation.
What duration and frame rate change
The default is three seconds at ten frames per second. Start there for one simple reveal. Duration controls how long the animation runs, with a range of one to ten seconds. More time can help someone inspect a detailed renovation, but repeating an empty pause adds weight without adding information.
Frame rate controls the number of frames generated each second, from five to thirty FPS. Higher values can make movement smoother, but generate more frames and typically increase processing time and file size. A three-second sequence at ten FPS contains about thirty frames; at thirty FPS it contains about ninety. This is a frame-count comparison, not an exact file-size prediction.
GIF supports a limited color palette per frame. Smooth skies, skin tones, and dark gradients may look grainier than the original photographs. Increasing FPS will not fix color banding. If accurate color is important, compare a video export before deciding which file to publish.
Before and after GIF questions
Why does my saved GIF look still?
Some file browsers and social services show only a thumbnail. Open the saved file in a browser or another animation-capable viewer. If the destination does not play GIFs, use the Video Maker instead.
Why is exporting slow on my phone?
The GIF is generated on your device. Try a shorter duration, fewer frames per second, and smaller source images. Keep the tab open while it finishes, and avoid starting several exports together.
Is an account required?
You can preview without an account. Export requires sign-in; free accounts have one GIF export per day with a watermark. Pro removes the watermark and daily export limit. Check Pricing for current details.
